Deciding to start a journey toward mental health can be scary and exciting all at the same time.

My name is Bonnie Diaz. I am a licensed mental health counselor with around 8 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. As a mental health counselor, I feel it is my duty to provide you with the best care and to facilitate changes that will help you reach your goals. I am dually licensed in Washington; I am both a substance use disorder professional (fully licensed since 2020) and a fully licensed mental health counselor (fully licensed since 2017). I approach therapy with warmth, humor, empathy, and compassion. I am solution-focused and strengths-based. I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, Minneapolis, MN. I have post graduate training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), DBT (dialectic behavioral therapy), CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), and MI (motivational interviewing).

I believe that there is no “one size fits all” response in counseling, so you can be assured I am present with you – meeting you where you are right now and working with you there. In general I am person-centered, meaning you are first and foremost in the session. Your time with me is just that, your time, and we will use it as you see fit. I feel that even if every symptom that has brought you to therapy isn't resolved, we can still learn to live a life brimming with vitality! The work we do together is free of judgment, condemnation, and negativity to what is said in session; all are welcome, and all thoughts and feelings have validity. I also offer a place where you can process through whatever it is that has brought you to see me. My personal goal is to make you your own therapist. We can review and learn many different skills that may be useful through all stages of your life.
