Blerita Mulliqi’s mission in therapy is to guide clients to their full potential and to a place of well-being. A recent graduate of LIU with an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling, Blerita works collaboratively with Edward Afful at Urban Light Psychiatric to provide a safe environment for individuals, couples, and families to resolve inner conflict and lessen the stressors of everyday life. Throughout Blerita’s five years of tenure in the mental health field, and as an employee at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, she has helped clients through crisis management by using prevention techniques and coping skills. During these trying times, Blerita has alleviated the fears and concerns of her clients that were affected by COVID-19 by being a comforting and compassionate staff member. In therapy, Blerita listens to a client’s concerns and through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, assists in identifying patterns of thinking, and then collaboratively finds solutions to minimize unsettling feelings and plan steps ahead. Blerita’s style is person-centered and she believes that the best way to help a client is to meet the client where they’re at in their journey of healing. Outside of work, Blerita is an avid hiker who has climbed mountains in Iceland and multiple locations across the Westchester area — even bringing her two dogs along! The mindfulness and affirmation techniques essential to that pastime are key components to Blerita’s approach as a mental health counselor.
