Hi all!

Thank you for taking time to learn more about me. My name is Bill, and I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the states of Texas and Louisiana. I've been working in the mental health field now for about 5 years now. Most of my expertise and experience has been in treating depression, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, emerging adulthood issues, and coping with life changes.

I would describe my counseling approach as mostly Solution-Focused. Despite how you are feeling now at the beginning of the counseling process or what you have experienced in the past, you are alive, and you have made it this far! As a Solution-Focused therapist, my job is to help you pinpoint what has helped you make it this far in life so you can do more of those things. Likewise, my job also is to help you discover what thinking patterns have caused you more harm than good and to support you in getting rid of those patterns that drag you down.

The most important thing I want all clients to know is that therapy is a process! There are a few 'quick fixes' in this field, but they are rare and only work for some specific scenarios. A good analogy is to compare improving our mental health to the process of improving our physical health. I can't decide today that I want to be healthy and expect it to happen over night. It takes work and dedication to adhere to a new diet and exercise plan.

To add to that metaphor, there isn't a single diet plan or exercise routine that works for every single person. The therapeutic process is the same way. There is no one size fits all. Together we'll make a plan that is tailored to your needs and based on your goals for therapy.
