Hello!
My name is Betty Sanchez Maurer, marriage and family therapist licensed in Alabama. I received my Master’s Degree in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton, and I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and parenting problems.
My philosophy in therapy is a collaborative approach, where I can walk alongside and accompany you down this road of self-discovery and personal growth. My hope is that you will feel comfortable communicating with me what you feel is and is not working during treatment so that we can tailor the sessions according to your needs. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and psychodynamic counseling.
I want to share some information about what to expect during treatment. During our first couple of sessions, I would like to get to know you better and delve more deeply into your symptoms, duration, and severity of what has brought you to seek treatment. I would like you to share with me what your interests and hobbies are, your support system, and any additional information pertaining to your presenting problem. We may also discuss any interventions you may have tried in attempts to remedy your current situation. During this time, we will also focus on goal setting, those objectives you would like to achieve during our time together.
