About

Hello! I am happy you are here, looking at options. I believe therapy, at it's core, is about finding options so that you can make choices to start creating a life that works for you. Often, we recognize that our life is not working in some way and then we want to change that. Of course, wanting to change and knowing how to change are two different things and that is where therapy can be helpful. My view is that human beings are constantly changing, growing, adapting, whether we like it or not. Consider that you are not the same person you were 10 years ago. In some ways you may be, but you know, how you are "now" could scarcely be imagined by the person you were "then". This happens because, along the way, we learn, we adapt to what life throws at us, we change. And in another 10 years, we will be different than we are now, because we will have learned and changed and adapted even more. The opportunity lies in how much we can consciously influence the change. learning, and adaptations we go through. How much do you think you have consciously chosen how you have changed along the way? Therapy can increase your chance to make conscious choices about how you adapt, learn, and change, in my opinion. And this is good, because then you can bring those choices more into alignment with your own values, preferences, and dreams. Change becomes less random and more intentional. Change becomes more self-directed and less reactive. Along the way, your life starts to reflect your authentic and core self and less about some unquestioned model of self you may not even agree with. If that makes sense to you and sounds like what you would want, I would be honored to be part of your journey of growth.

I have over 20 years of experience, working with many different people with many different backgrounds. I have worked with people who are dealing with a mental illness (mostly depression and anxiety, but also many others), people who do not have mental illness but have been impacted by significant stressors and big life changes, and people who have decided they would like some support as they work on personal growth of some type. I have worked with individuals, couples, families with many different situations. I tell you all that so you know that I have experience with many situations and also to let you know that if I do NOT think I can offer much on the way of help, I will let you know (which is something that experience also can teach a therapist). Usually in such situations, I can also recommend options that would likely be a better fit than I would as well.

I look forward to talking with you and wish you well on your journey, wherever it may go.
