About

Hello from the other side. The good news is there is always hope. As we experience the daily human condition, everyone will recognize and address concerns independently during their lifetime. However, there are times when it is necessary to seek assistance from others when life issues become overwhelming. Congratulations on choosing Find A Therapist in your quest to find support to overcome the struggle(s) you are now facing. It will be my pleasure to help you acquire the crucial tools that will allow you to navigate through the current challenge(s) in life. Finding the resolution to a problem is rewarding and, at times freeing.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#235) with 37 years of psychotherapy experience. I attended Jacksonville State University and graduated with a BS in Sociology/Gerontology in 1977 and earned an MS in Guidance and Counseling in 1983. I became fully licensed in 2001.

My career has focused on the following areas: Psychotherapy/Counseling and Substance Abuse. The populations I have served are individuals, groups, families, couples, at-risk adolescents, geriatric adults, in various settings, which include community-based, private, and public agencies.
The areas I have experience in are; Trauma and abuse, Parenting issues, Anger management, Self-esteem, Coping with life changes, Aging and Geriatric Issues, Caregiver Issues and Stress, Codependency, Domestic Violence, Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Family Problems, Guilt, and Shame, Hospice and End of Life Counseling, and Women's Issues.

When meeting with a client, I use a Client-Centered Approach to guide individuals in their journey toward a better place in life. The approaches utilized in therapy are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Existential Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. I want to get to know you well so that together we can approach your barriers and navigate toward a positive outcome. Therapy sessions are on Wednesday and Thursday, and I check messages all during the week. I always consider it a privilege to work with each individual who entrusts me as their therapist.
