Welcome to my site:
My name is Benjamin Figueras; I'm a psychotherapist licensed in the States of New York and Florida ( USA) with over 35 years of clinical experience. I have comprehensive knowledge and practice in the treatment of psychiatric disorders and comorbid illnesses. I've also treated individuals in the workplace through Employee Assistance Programs, provided assessments, interventions and treatment related to behavioral and workplace problems. I have experience in group-therapies with adults, children and families. I generally practice individually- focused psychodynamic psychotherapies. My work with adolescents and children ensures that their confidentiality is respected; however, young patients are informed of the need to engage parents whenever the situation calls for legal and / or other family intervention. My treatment focus is generally eclectic within a humanistic Person-Centered approach. I have integrated through the years psychological and meditation practices from traditional Eastern meditation techniques which help to increase awareness of internal conflicts and repressed negative influences. I am always curious about my clients’ early-development and its impact on their present inner conflicts, stressful situations and how they manage and cope with existing problems. Very often I use a psycho-education approach to help my clients enhance their insight and strategies for resolving inner-conflict. I have extensive experience as well with patients who are struggling with substance use or addictions. I am also fluent in Spanish and cognizant of Latino cultural traditions, beliefs and values.
