About
Pronouns: She, Her
I have worked in the Mental Health field for 20 plus years and focus on people who are going through transitions in their lives and those who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, abuse, grief and loss, attachment issues, chronic pain and relationship problems. Some people come to therapy during times of disconnection from their self, their story, their body, their families or their community. Being human can be complicated, challenging and messy. I believe that psychotherapy is a collaborative process where together we can explore new ways of understanding your experience as well as gaining insight into self-defeating patterns causing distress and the necessary tools to grow beyond your current struggles.
My therapeutic lens is person centered, strengths based and humanistic. I provide a safe place for you to investigate fully who you are and how to live your best life. You are the architect and author of your life and I serve as a guide and support. Using a compassionate lens, I use a psychodynamic approach, family systems, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, EMDR, attachment theories and a toolbox of other techniques to assist in mining each individual's unique gifts.
Additionally, I am committed to providing advocacy to assist parents of children with special needs in obtaining the appropriate supports, services and educational placement through the IEP process. I also advocate for differently-abled adults and chronically mentally ill adults and believe they have the right to receive services that meet their unique needs, supports and encourages their strengths, and embraces their individuality in the least restrictive environment.
