I am a New York State Licensed Psychologist and Certified School Psychologist. I earned my Doctorate of Psychology from Pace University in 1991 subsequent to earning two Masters degrees - MS School Psychology from Queens College (1983) and an MS in Educational Psychology (1977) from Ferkauf Graduate School. I obtained further training in psychodynamic psychotherapy of children and adolescents completing a three year program at the Institute of Psychoanalytic Training and Research I have thirty years of experience working with Children, Adolescents and Adults in a variety of therapeutic capacities. I have worked as a psychologist in the regular school system as well as worked for several years in early intervention and special education preschools. My work involved helping children and parents in coping with various difficulties they encountered. My experience also includes close to twenty years working within the foster care system. This work involved helping children and adolescents who often had been traumatized, adjust to their new homes . This adjustment often involved helping parents and children with loss, anxiety, anger and associated depressive feelings as they readjust their lives. Throughout my career I have also done therapeutic work in mental health clinics and in private practice helping adults, adolescents and children with various troubles they have encountered. I work in a psychodynamic manner providing a safe space where one can fully express their thoughts and feelings towards understanding themselves. Therapy consists of the individual speaking whatever may be on their mind as I listen and comment when I have something helpful to say. Therapy can help and give hope as new perspectives are seen and understood within an accepting and nonjudgemental atmosphere.
