Hi, my name is Barbara. I have been a Social Worker for over 20 years and I have been working under my Clinical license for the last 10 years. I attended California State University, Long Beach where I attained both my BSW(2001) and Masters in Social Work (2004). Most of my work has been as a medical social worker where I have counseled and supported families who have children diagnosed with chronic medical conditions. Included in my experience are Crisis Intervention, Bereavement Support, Solution Focused therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
I have worked with children who have been removed from their homes, as well as with their parents who struggle with the environmental and internal stressors causing the removal of their children. I have helped many people who have experienced trauma and abuse. My work with clients covers a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life changes, parenting problems, and career challenges.
I also have over 10 years of experience working with college students, training and supporting them through their last year of internship.
In the past, I provided interventions to the aging population, providing crisis intervention, resource linkage, and facilitating support groups.
One of my strengths is working with diverse populations. Although I enjoy working with individuals from all age groups, I am currently only taking clients 18 yo and over.

My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
