About

Hi! I’m Barbara. It’s nice to meet you! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is committed to helping people become the best versions of themselves. My work focuses on empowering clients by building upon their strengths to increase resilience, identifying maladaptive behavioral and relational patterns that may be interfering with various aspects of their lives, recognizing limiting beliefs, self-defeating or self-sabotaging behaviors, and learning how to manage emotions. My experience spans over two decades in the field of mental and behavioral health and includes working with individuals, families, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors in various treatment settings, inpatient as well as outpatient. My approach to treatment is collaborative, individualized, and has been described as “outside the box,” as I meet people where they are mentally and emotionally. Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed, pulled in several directions, struggling with family or relationship issues—such as blended family challenges, problematic behavior of strong-willed children, or caring for your children while also caring for your aging parents. Perhaps you are struggling with sexual or gender identity-related challenges or have experienced trauma in your life. You may have unhealed childhood wounds you would like to process. Are you feeling stressed or overextended due to juggling multiple roles and responsibilities? Do you struggle with substance abuse, codependency, PTSD, life transitions, or struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one, or are you or someone you love trying to learn how to navigate mental health issues? I use a variety of creative and evidence-based practices to promote healing and wellness such as “walk and talk” therapy. If you think this approach may be right for you, I’m here to support you in your journey to wellness. During our first session, with nonjudgmental acceptance and empathy, my focus will be to gain an understanding of your current challenge
