My name is Ashton Barker and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Louisiana & Missouri (LPC only). I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have spent my career working in various settings within the mental health field and have experience working with individuals (adult and teens), couples, and families. My experience has afforded me the opportunity to offer you with an array of innovative interventions to improve your overall mental health and wellbeing.

My counseling style is warm, interactive, and personable. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My style of therapy involves active listening, humor, and creating a safe therapeutic space which is free of judgment and motivates you to manage life stressors. While in therapy we will work collaboratively by using your strengths, thoughts, feelings and behaviors to determine appropriate copping strategies and solutions to help you reach you goals. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral and solution focused therapies. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

I specialize in helping clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, marriage/relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and other mental health concerns. I have also assisted those clients who have experienced physical trauma and emotional abuse.
