About
Hello! My name is Ariel (yes, like the little mermaid!), I am a licensed mental health therapist and child mental health specialist with over 17 years in the field of mental health beginning in 2003 as a behavioral aide specialist to a Psychotherapist. I have been counseling for the past 12 years and I have worked in a number of different treatment modalities to include psychiatric hospitals, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, crisis de-escalation & stabilization, community health (in-home and outpatient clinics). Working in these different areas of treatment has provided me with a keen knowledge in supporting individuals and families who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, family relationships/conflict, cultural issues, life transitions and managing crisis in the home/community. I am also experienced in working with autism, ADHD, FAST (Family Assessment and Stabilization Team) and WISE (Wraparound with intensive services).
My personal style is welcoming, empathetic, direct and solution focused and allows me to get to know my clients in a manner that supports a healthy and strong therapeutic relationship which I deem to be the basis for any successful treatment. The approaches that influence my work with individuals and families are Reality, Humanistic, CBT, Integrative, Multicultural and Behavioral approaches. It is my belief that each individual and family is different and no one treatment works for all, therefore I draw from many theories in making sure that I am able to support individuals and families in the best way that I can.
Different experiences and stages in my life have equipped me with the confidence in working with individuals from all walks of life. My passion is to work to continue to break stigmas in cultures and communities that may shy away from therapy while normalizing therapy to create a healthier world, one individual at a time! We take care of our bodies daily through things like eating healthy and exercising, ask yourself why can’t we do this for our minds and own mental health? Just like in exercising, consistency is key to see the results and the same principle will apply in working on your mental health. Will you work towards that mission with me, by helping yourself today?!!
I look forward to speaking with you!
