About
My name is Areen Fakhoury and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I have a bachelors degree in psychology, and a masters degree in marriage and family therapy. The way I approach therapy is that I prioritize who you are as a person and what you want to get out of our time together. My approach Her therapeutic lens is person-centered and humanistic, this means the clients are seen as the expert in their lives. Her goal is to assist people in working towards fulfilling their fullest potential, healing inner child wounding and current relationships. As well as regaining a new perspective on life, as a whole. She believes you deserve to live a healthy and meaningful life My focus I have experience working with adults, couples and family groups. I have been primarily meeting with women of all ages and stages, helping them navigate identity, stress, life transitions and various relationships. My communication style I focus on the importance of a safe space and natural therapeutic relationship. I want to make sure the client will get the most out of therapy and our time together so I make sure the sessions are focused on what they want to talk about and their goals. I focus on where the client is at in the beginning of sessions and go from there to navigate what is on their mind. I never preplan sessions as I know my clients are not robots and every week could mean something different. I do however make sure we have a main goal in mind to track progress and make sure my clients are benefiting from therapy. My journey to mental healthcare I have always loved hearing people's stories and believe their is so much power in saying your story or life events out loud. There's beauty in the brokeness and I believe it's a beautiful thing to come as you are. I want to facilitate a safe space for each person to face their realities but also find hope, which is what my biggest take away was when I spent a semester in South Africa doing a counseling internship.
