Welcome to Find A Therapist Therapy. I’m so glad you decided to reach out for support.
My name is April Newman and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in the state of Arizona. I earned my Masters of Social Work from Arizona State University in 2003.
I have been working in the helping profession for over 20 years.

I've been honored to walk with many individuals on their personal paths of self discovery. Bearing witness to their journeys has inspired me on my own path, both professionally and personally. I have experience with a variety of individuals in a number of social service environments. Some of the clinical concerns I’ve worked with individuals include recovering from chronic substance abuse, addictions, eating disorders, compulsive behaviors, and various mental health concerns (dual diagnoses). I gained this experience during my years as a Therapist at a Residential Treatment Center for Addictions and Mental Health Recovery.

I also specialize in concerns related to Human Sexuality. I gained my education through postgraduate training at the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco, CA. I’m particularly experienced in working with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community. Some of these concerns include exploring sexual orientation, gender variant expression, and difficulties with societal discrimination.

I consider the whole person in my therapeutic approaches. I utilize solution-focused therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and provide psycho-education. My role as a Therapist is to provide a non-judgmental space where I listen and help assist on your journey of self exploration. I can offer support, education, and skills that can aid in your path to wellness. My motivation comes from a genuine desire to help people overcome barriers in order to make positive changes in their lives. I look forward to working together.
