About
As we walk (or sometimes run) through life, we experience many seasons. Some of those seasons can be trying, difficult, and downright horrific. They may be the darkest hours where there is not light in sight. There may be change after change with no bend in the road. Talking about these dark or difficult moments can be very scary, overwhelming, and uncomfortable. When we speak of those moments, it makes them real, tangible, and sometimes even scarier because when we say it out loud, it makes those moments and feelings true and makes us vulnerable. That is why I am here.
I am here to walk with you through those difficult seasons of life. I am here to provide you with a nonjudgmental ear, a shoulder to lean on, and someone to provide unbiased support. In my many years of working in the mental health field, I have found each person, situation, and session is very much like a snowflake, no two are alike. Each person is unique and experiences things differently. And just as each person is unique, so are their sessions with me. I cater to with whom I’m speaking. I use an eclectic approach to each individual because you deserve an individualized approach.
My name is April Sherrill, I go by Dawn (my middle name). I am a licensed clinical social worker who has worked in the mental health field for more than 20 years. I live and practice in North Carolina. My experience ranges from working with individuals with Autism to crisis work and everything in between. My skill set is primarily in the mental health and substance abuse field where I have practiced for the past 6 years. In my free time I enjoy hiking in the mountains, especially during the fall season, curling up with a good book, or running around with my husband and 2 daughters. I am here for you and look forward to walking through these changes with you.
