About
Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina and have been practicing since 2017. One of my highest standards is working with clients in such a way as to avoid shaming and invalidation (I believe the rest of the world does that well enough). I delight in working with individuals of color, and fellow members of the LGBTQQIA+ and immigrant communities. I particularly love partnering with young adults embarking on the task of identity formation, and with adult survivors of childhood issues who are currently working to thrive rather than survive. I work with individuals or families, and can also provide parenting support as I am certified with the Triple P parenting program at the clinical level 5. I identify as Afro-Latina, progressively-oriented, bisexual, and affirming of alternative communities.
Working with me as a therapist you can expect someone who is warm, adaptable with evidence-based modalities, and focused on YOUR values. My style is relational and I also focus on how systems that we are in can affect us. I have training and experience with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), MI, and Solution Focused Therapy. I use grounding, mindfulness, and meditation as interventions regularly, if appropriate for the person. I have somatic training as well, and have completed Level 1 of both Embodied Recovery, and the NeuroAffective Developmental Model (NARM) which treat individuals that are dealing with the effects of early childhood trauma, neglect, or abuse.
I invite you to ask questions! If you have experienced trauma, or if you are enduring grief/ loss, anxiety, depression/mood disorders, adjustment/acculturation issues, parenting concerns, or other issues, I would be honored to connect with you.
