Hello,

I am the owner of Affirming Solutions Counseling where I also provide online counseling as well. I have been in the counseling profession for 5 years as of 2019. I earned a M.A. degree in Counseling and Guidance with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and also a graduate certificate in Domestic and Family Violence from Louisiana Tech University in 2014. My B.A. is in Psychology which I also received from Louisiana Tech in 2012. I have done individual and family therapy. I focus upon relationship issues involving but not limited to behavioral problems, health problems, marital problems, domestic violence, substance abuse, sexual issues, grief, depression, and adoption. I have a passion for couples and marriages and currently am expanding my knowledge in this area. I also have been trained and am a Triple P provider(Positive Parenting Program). I approach treatment from a solution focused standpoint. I focus on solutions rather than the problems to help one achieve their goals. I feel focusing on what is already working or how one would like their life to be is beneficial then focusing on the past. I do understand how discussing the past is beneficial. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in treatment. I work to show how thoughts and feelings affect behaviors. I work to help one learn how to identify and change destructive, disturbing, and/or irrational thought patterns that negatively influence behaviors and emotions. I am calm, warm, positive, and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect and working to empower them to develop confidence to handle any situation. You have already displayed courage enough to seek help to progress towards change.
