About

Hi. I’m Laura, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Qualified Supervisor, and Board Certified-Telemental Health Provider. My journey working in mental health has offered me an array of experience in a variety of settings throughout the field. I’ve worked in residential crisis services, community mental health centers, intensive outpatient settings, college counseling center settings, treatment courts, and with populations in residential settings for substance abuse. Primarily, my experience is with adults.
My orientation to counseling is based on a meaning-centered and cognitive behavioral perspective of counseling, whereby I employ meaning-centered interventions alongside and in conjunction with a cognitive behavioral model. I believe that the primary process of counseling involves many existential issues and that healing is found in changing the way that individuals think about their problems while learning to incorporate values and meaning into problem-solving. From my view, healing is a whole-body experience, and I believe in a holistic approach to wellness and healing.
While I consider myself a generalist, the majority of my experience has been with individuals who have experienced trauma and with individuals who have substance use disorders.

I would describe my style as collaborative and supportive; however, I encourage my clients to challenge and confront the obstacles that keep them “stuck.” Change can be difficult at times, but having someone to walk with you through it certainly helps. While everyone comes to therapy for something different, we all come to be seen and heard. I consider the opportunity to share that space with all of my clients to be the highest honor.
