Hi, I’m Annie (she/her). I’m a psychologist with 11 years of experience and whose philosophy is that we all have life experiences that leave us feeling disconnected, distressed, and uncertain about our future. I believe it is important to recognize and address the impact of current stressors, past trauma, loss, and injustice on one’s well-being. These types of struggles and distress can bring attention to wounds that need healing. Every individual comes into psychotherapy with the knowledge and experience that makes them the expert on themselves and what they need. It’s my role to support individuals as they learn to use these strengths to gain insight and meaningful change. I see use therapeutic approaches rooted in cultural humility and relational theories to inform my work with individuals. I also incorporate mind-body approaches, such as EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy into my practice. I value transparency and humor as ways to co-create meaningful relationships with individuals where they can feel safe challenging themselves. While trained as a generalist, I specialize in areas of grief, trauma, microaggressions, discrimination and oppression, refugee and immigrant mental health, depression, substance misuse and addiction, and relationship issues. I also provide affirming services individuals who identify as non-gender conforming or LGBQ. While I don't identify as a member of this community, I believe therapy should be a safe space where people who identify as queer or non-gender conforming can can explore their true identity and deconstruct how oppression and discrimination may be impacting their mental health.
