About

Hello, I'm Anna Jolene Reed Hood, LPC-MHSP. Please call me Jolene as that is my preferred name. As a licensed professional counselor, I am primarily interested in helping others work through their troubles-whether it is something from the past, the present, or even the future. As humans, we can have so many concerns, worries, fears, anxieties, unresolved trauma, anger, relationship challenges, and/or other day to day issues, that at times life can be overwhelming. I am here to help. My greatest hope is that through building a trusting relationship with me, you and I can address anything that is bothering you, from the miniscule to the gigantic, so that you can live a better life. In order to help you, I use a collaborative approach that is supportive, encouraging, and rooted in respect.

My training is through Radford University where I earned a Master's degree in counseling and human development. I am also trained as a yoga and meditation teacher which I often bring to the counseling setting. Additionally, I am trained in neurofeedback, psychodrama, sociometry, and suicide prevention. I have worked in the helping profession for 15 years and consider helping others to be one of my life's greatest purposes. I have worked with individuals across the lifespan from early childhood to late adulthood to address any number of issues, including depression, anxiety, stage of life concerns, serious mental illness, sociopathy and criminality, trauma, sexual abuse, and relationship issues. My greatest passion in this work is the opportunity to get to know clients whereby I am allowed and entrusted with sacred stories. It takes a brave person to allow another to know them so well and I hope you will entrust me with that honor.
