About
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addiction Counselor with a certification in Gambling Addiction. I have more than 7 years of experience working with a variety of individuals, including those experiencing chronic and persistent mental illness, substance use and process disorders, those involved or with a history of involvement in the criminal justice system, individuals experiencing emotional disregulation, and those who have experienced trauma and abuse.
I utilize a strengths-based approach to counseling, which starts with the foundation that individuals have strengths and that those strengths can be employed when working through any issue. I have training in several different therapeutic theories and approaches, such as dialectical behavioral therapy which centers on creating your best life, cognitive behavioral interventions, motivational interviewing interventions which help people move towards change by decreasing barriers in their life, and Seeking Safety to help individuals who have experienced issues with trauma and abuse move from surviving to thriving in their life.
I work to foster an environment of unconditional positive regard with whomever I work and believe in the individual's ability to create change in their own lives. I believe in helping to develop self-esteem so that individuals can learn to trust their decision making, while understanding that it is sometimes just nice to be able to have the support of others. I am looking forward to the possibility of working with you and supporting you in whatever part of your journey you're on for as long as you need.
Please note that if Find A Therapist auto assigns you to my caseload, I will need to review to my current caseload to ensure that, to the best of my ability, I am the best person to address your needs. Also if this happens, I may take up to 24 hours to respond during the week, or 48 hours on the weekend. If I am not able to take you as a client, I will make sure to provide the information needed to help you be matched with someone else as soon as possible.
