I am a board-certified Licensed Professional Counselor in Cookeville, TN. I work with children and adults and provide care for clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and life transitions. I have experience with these issues and others and have been a board-certified counselor for 6 years. What is your approach to therapy? My treatment approach is rooted in person-centered therapy which is a type of humanistic therapy. This basically means that you, the client, are my first consideration and that I believe that the relationship between client and therapist has therapeutic value. Sometimes I will draw techniques from other modalities of therapy, especially Cognitive-Behavioral therapies. My style is warm and open-minded and I’m not afraid to laugh a bit at life’s quirks. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you? A client should expect a welcoming atmosphere that helps them feel relaxed when they enter. Sessions themselves are typically unstructured, depending on the client's needs. I hope they leave a session feeling a bit of weight lifted off their shoulders.
