About
Hi!
My name is Angela Mosley and I am licensed in the state of South Carolina (LPC) and am Board Certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. I have 30 years of experience with a very interesting career working with children, teens and adults.
I was a professional nanny with two adopted boys who have ADHD. The boys' parents were both doctors and paid my way to Graduate School in order to keep me in there employ as long as possible.
I have worked with the chronically mentally ill adults in a Boarding Home (96 hour shifts living with the clients and helping them learn to live outside of a psychiatric hospital).
I have worked in a 28 day inpatient alcohol/drug program (many of the clients had either been in prison or were attempting to stay out of prison), I worked doing Group Therapy with adults who were felons in order to help them acclimate to being back in society.
Then a Wilderness Camp (which was a prison diversion program for female juvenile offenders.)
Then I worked in an AIDS Service Organization including mothers that were HIV + and their babies.
I worked IFS (Intensive Family Services) at our local Mental Health Center. At this job I did a variety of things (ran a group for kids who had addicted parents, covered outpatient services for colleagues who went out for maternity leave and ran a satellite outpatient program in a rural setting).
And finally I have been in private practice for the past 12+ years working with children ages 7 and up, teens and adults.
I received my Bachelors Degree from Erskine College and my Masters Degree from Clemson University.
I think there are many people who are in pain. I offer my clients a variety of tools to help them cope, decrease and/or alleviate their pain. Healing is often a painful and lengthy process. It can cause much fear. My first responsibility is to create a compassionate therapeutic relationship. Trust is essential to creating the therapeutic alliance. My favorite quote is by Frank Herbert and it is as follows: " Fear is the mind killer. It is the little death that causes total obliteration. I will permit my fear to pass over and through me. Then, only I will remain."
Facing your fear is the first step for many of us and I will be present with you.
