Hi, my name is Angela, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida, with 17+ years of experience. During my counseling career, I have maintained a Private Practice and worked as a Crisis Counselor/TRUST Counselor in a high school for 15 years. In the high school setting, I provided personal counseling for students and their families dealing with a myriad of concerns, such as family conflict, parenting challenges, substance abuse, eating disorders, recovery from abuse (sexual, verbal, emotional or physical), and anxiety about the future. In my Private Practice I have counseled individuals, couples, and families working through a variety of personal challenges and issues. Prior to pursuing a career in mental health, I enjoyed being a high school music teacher for 20 years.

Working in Miami, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a very diverse community of clients. I firmly believe in treating each person with respect and worth. My counseling style is warm and compassionate, yet honest and respectfully direct. I use a Solution Focused therapeutic approach, assisting you in discovering personal practices which will enable you to make the changes you desire. I often incorporate other counseling approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive therapy (RET), and Motivational Interviewing, to provide flexibility in the counseling session. I also employ creative therapeutic techniques, like music therapy, storytelling, letter writing, journaling, and even humor to help process and release feelings.

I see my therapeutic role as someone who walks alongside you, supporting you, encouraging you and perhaps even challenging you, as you find your way. I will meet you where you are – to help you get to where you want to be.
