My name is Andrea Smalls. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 16 years of experience with a variety of conditions including but not limited to, depression, anxiety, anger, grief and loss, addiction, substance abuse. I believe in using my gift to assist others in developing solutions to address the challenges experienced through the peaks and valleys of life. I have worked with several populations including children, adults, and geriatric adults within individual, family, and group settings. I utilize an integrated approach with techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Reality Therapy to develop the necessary tools to successfully cope. Primary focus is on development of essential skills including: expanding awareness, reframing thoughts to a healthy realistic state and problem solving. Throughout the journey of counseling, clients will learn that while they may have little control of everything that happens to them in life, they can learn to respond in a healthy manner.
