About

***Please Note: Amy Stoup is a provider within Headway’s provider network. After booking your appointment you will receive an email from Headway with instructions to setup your Headway patient account. You will need to complete this setup in order to confirm your appointment.*** What should your client know about you? I am a LCSW practicing in Upstate NY, mother of four children and a yoga instructor. I received my MSW from Smith College School for Social Work where I was classically trained in psychodynamic theory and practice. I have been practicing social work for 20 years in various clinical settings including, inpatient and outpatient mental health, schools, and private practice. I also use EFT (tapping) for emotional regulation and release, as well as, other science based mindfulness techniques. What is your approach to therapy? My approach to psychotherapy is similar to a being a detective, ready to get curious and dig deep! Together we learn how to pay close attention to and focus on past and present issues. I view psychotherapy as a self-care practice to gain insight, growth and learn new ways of responding. I value creating and maintaining a trusting therapeutic alliance. Treatment is a fluid process that will respectfully move at an individual's pace. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you? Psychotherapy is a safe space of non-judgment to gain awareness and apply new insights and tools to release the negative beliefs and past burdens. You will receive help and clinical expertise with an objective person to gain a clearer understanding of yourself. I am honored and humbled to provide the space and help in your healing and growth!
