About

Welcome! I am glad you've chosen to heal.
My name is Amy, a licensed psychotherapist & board-certified supervisor with more than 15 years of experience.

My clinical foundation developed through the completion of my graduate education, formality of advanced training and final licensing requirements through practice in healthcare settings-varying in intensity and specialty.

All standard requirements are underlined by my own love & lifelong passion of helping. Using a natural ability to create and manage empathic connection-I am committed to the same values used in clinical expectations for patients & clients as a daily practice for myself in my professional and personal life.

In addition to providing psychotherapy, I supervise clinicians as they complete licensure. From the appreciation of my own experience through mentorship, I found that my dream to formalize and provide clinical supervision ultimately intensified my love and commitment to the field of psychotherapy.

My partnership with Find A Therapist allows me to use a collaborative approach as independent practitioner. Focus on prioritizing smaller caseloads, I am able to commit to the long term needs & well-being of each client, based on each individualized needs.

Most noted from the feedback of clients, I am attentive, nurturing, flexible, knowledgeable and direct in my communication.

I find that authenticity is essential to my identity, just as transparency underlies the role as a therapist. I strive to prioritize the practice of grace, using fairness in expectations as I model personal accountability in a fundamental way. Reciprocal respect and mutual acceptance is foundational in all relationships. My clients are no different.

My theoretical style & philosophical approach has evolved over many years of formal practice. Using most often the evidence-based techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness & Internal Family Systems.
No matter what techniques are planned, goals developed, or behavioral plans made, the process of psychotherapy can be defined in whole by the presence of moment. Naturally developed through clinical experience, intuition & knowledge is a therapist's intrinsic ability to know which approach or technique is best for the client at each changing moment.

Other background details & techniques used are listed below.

Specialized training includes:
Certified in the treatment of ED patients, direct leadership of clinicians through treatment of eating disorders as well as Trauma-Focused CBT. Membership in the National Board for Certified Counselors & American Counseling Association.

With specialized knowledge in trauma recovery, I believe that YOU are the expert of your story, and only YOU hold the power to transform your life. My therapeutic role in this partnership is as valuable as YOUR effort. Your openness, honesty and responsibility of your growth & healing are fundamental to this process. I am able to provide support and accountability of a guide. The therapeutic process of these elements requires inherent balance.

My own faith naturally filters all choices. This adds a layer of unique impartiality to my role that I am always willing to acknowledge. My spiritual beliefs intertwine with organic awareness that transcends the mind, body and soul connection. I strive to navigate all relationships using reciprocal trust & mutual respect. Through this, I believe attachments can be repaired, rebuilt and transformed.

Many of my clients identify through the healing of unresolved childhood trauma, some deconstruct the toxicity of family dysfunction & learn to manage symptoms or conquer their own addiction!

*My Role as a Therapist:

I have a unique responsibility to challenge clients in their identified patterns of toxicity. Using techniques like supportive encouragement and confrontation, we dismantle irrational beliefs to help clients discover their own empowerment. This growth process allows for the individual practical application in their own lifelong process of healing!

Fundamental elements like the completion of my undergraduate and graduate education, advanced guidance of supervision resulting in 15 years of clinical experience as a licensed practitioner resulted in the foundation necessary to provide therapy to others.
Through this required structure, I have been able to accomplish my dreams starting with out in schools, community agencies, therapeutic day treatment, crisis stabilization, residential facilities - often varying in intensity. Working primarily with teenagers, families, then later individual adults allowed me the maturity and completion of more than a decade of motherhood and sobriety-two of my most significant of my roles.

*The Magic of Therapy:
Using the structure of standard practice and evidence-based technique; only licensed therapists possess the exclusive legal responsibility, training and experience combined with ethical ability to provide safe, legitimate medical treatment. Verifiable benefit has been shown with the commitment of practice with a licensed practitioner.

My ultimate priority as a licensed psychotherapist is to provide the emotional safety that ensures healing.
NO obstacle is superior against the profound strength of human connection & individual willpower! An OPEN heart is the ONLY requirement!
