When I think about who I want to work with as a client. I think of someone who knows what they are ready to look at for change in their life. The client and therapist are a partnership working toward goals that will help them be successful in overcoming symptoms they are experiencing whether it is from mental health related issues, substance related issues, or everyday living. As a team, we work together to find solutions and create a new way of thinking and behaving.
As a therapist who has been practicing for over 20 years with the IDD and autism spectrum population. The transition to psychotherapy was smooth and effortless. I meet the identified client and family where they are at, help them along a journey of self-discovery, teaching skills using a multitude of techniques and practices because it isn't cookie cutter.
My philosophy is that you and I are in this together. I will never work harder then you, but I will push you when it is necessary and advocate for you when you cannot. I am doing what I can to give you what you need to work myself out of a job and you onto the path you have always wanted. What are you waiting for?
