Hello my name is Amy Dent and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I graduated from West Virginia University and obtained a MSW with a concentration in Direct Practice Counseling. I also received a B.A. in Social Science with a concentration in Psychology from Bluefield State College.
I understand that life is hard, and there is absolutely no shame in reaching out to learn new skills to help manage day to day stress. I would love the opportunity to provide you with coping skills, techniques to manage panic attacks, anxiety, relieve symptoms of depression, improve communication skills, set healthy boundaries and strengthen relationships.
I currently own a private practice and have experience in treating Substance Use Disorder and Gambling addiction. I also have experience working in the Domestic Violence; with both the batterer and the victim, as well as, providing anger management.
My style of therapy is warm and friendly and without judgement. I utilize a wide variety of techniques such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy.
