About

My name is Amy Gillespie and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) working with clients throughout California via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults and have over 10 years of clinical experience, specializing in trauma, depression, anxiety, and work-related burnout. I am trained in EMDR and IFS and utilize techniques from other treatment modalities that best connect with my client's needs. My approach My approach is individualized to what works best for my clients but is anchored in coming from a non-judgmental approach to examine what they are going through. I encourage my clients to explore what may be behind their presenting issue and utilize techniques from various therapeutic modalities such as EMDR, CBT, mindfulness, ACT, and IFS to find new ways to cope with and manage what is presenting. My focus I have found that my approach works best for clients who are looking for options other than traditional talk therapy. While talking is part of the work we do together, I like to use mindfulness, somatic processing, and parts work as a way of exploring thoughts and feelings. My communication style My communication is calm, approachable, and without judgment. An important part of therapy is feeling safe and I strive to create an environment where you can feel open to be yourself and share your feelings. I like to check in periodically to understand what is helpful or not helpful in our therapeutic work together. My journey to therapy My journey to becoming a therapist started with me seeking support for myself during a difficult time. I was grateful to the individuals who helped me and I wanted to use that experience as a way to help others. This started as just wanting to talk to people and learn more about them. After many years in practice, I see my role as empowering others to be curious about themselves and guiding them to find the support and healing they are looking for.
