About
Hi there, I'm Amber! Hi, my name is Amber Massie (she/her/hers), I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and I look forward to supporting your journey to healing, self-discovery, and improving your outlook on yourself and your life. Change in therapy happens through a process of increased self-understanding, practicing new ways of engaging (with yourself, with others, with a particular problem or set of issues), and development and practice of coping strategies. I collaborate with my clients to identify and work toward treatment goals, using a combination of practical skills and deeper work to explore and repair root issues that may be contributing to current problems. My approach I strive to provide a safe, accepting, and nurturing environment for clients to explore patterns in thinking, behavior, and relationships to improve functioning. I use an integrative approach to tailor therapy to each client's specific needs, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practice, and humanistic and behavioral therapies. My focus I have over 8 years of experience providing mental health support to teens and young adults, specializing in supporting symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disturbances, interpersonal challenges, and family dynamic stressors. I find that the client's relationship with themselves and others impacts most of daily life, and with support, young people can reach their full potential if they learn what they are truly capable of, and what they deserve out of their relationships. My communication style I recognize the importance of the role I play as a therapist in young people's lives, so it is of utmost importance to me to provide a safe, trusting, non-judgmental, and supportive space where clients can comfortably express themselves and find tune who that really is. Support in session will always include patience, open-mindedness, and also accountability to improve self-worth as well as self-awareness.
