About
Thank you for displaying courage as you seek support and help. I appreciate you taking the time to learn about my background and treatment approach, as you identify how we can work well together. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), licensed in Illinois, and have had the pleasure of working in the field of mental health for almost 10 years. I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Roosevelt University. Within most of my career, I have worked within a community mental health setting, assisting clients of varying populations and backgrounds to gain insight into how to better manage their stressors and things within and outside of their control. Additionally, I have provided clinical supervision to interns, case managers, and counselors.
Focus of counseling and therapy treatment has included guiding clients in developing helpful coping skills to decrease and manage depression, anxiety and stress, bipolar and mood related disorders, intense emotions, self-esteem, grief/loss, trauma, life changes, as well as relationship and communication issues. My therapy style is supported and engaging, structured to instill a therapeutic relationship in which my clients feel comfortable to allow themselves to be vulnerable, as well as challenged to grow has shown the most success. Therapy has also included establishing personal growth, self-care, and how to obtain a sense of balance including: home, work, school, and parental roles. I strive to provide the best care with an eclectic approach and utilizing evidenced based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills, solution-focused, and person-centered techniques.
Our sessions can focus on how to work toward overall growth to be your most effective self. Throughout our lives we are faced with various adversity, some of which is within and outside of our control. My firsthand experience with this is being a mother of my 5y/o son and 3y/o puppy and identifying how to accept things outside of my control regarding my boys. I have worked in different settings to assist clients in learning how to manage varying levels of control, and to obtain a sense of peace of what they can do to move forward with their lives.
If you are ready to take control of your life and receive the support to further benefit you, it would be my pleasure to assist you in this process toward healing. You are the foundation of your growth, while part of my role is to assist guiding you. Engaging in therapy is an investment and commitment to yourself, all of which is within your control. You can take the first step in your recovery and success, will be provided a level of encouragement and care you have been longing for, and it begins by reaching out and contacting me. I look forward to working with you.
