About

My name is Alyssa Talbot. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed in California with six years of experience providing therapy services. I have worked in the mental health community for the last 15 years in a wide range of therapeutic settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, partial and intensive outpatient co-occurring care (substances and mental health), and prison settings. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, LGBTQI issues, PTSD, addictions, suicidality, and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. My approach My counseling style is warm, interactive, and sprinkled with humor. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I recognize that many of my patients have had negative experiences based on feeling judged by their "counselor," I assure you that this is a non-judgmental zone. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, and Dialectical Behavior counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. My focus I am comfortable with working with many clients. I am adaptable based on the needs of my clients. I traditionally see clients who present with anxiety, depression, and life changes. My communication style I like to think of myself as personable. I like to build rapport through empathy and humor. However, I am also known to be pretty straightforward. I have been told by many clients that they feel like our sessions are more like "talking with an old friend" than "therapy." My journey to therapy Initially, my goal in life was to become a nurse. I have experience as an EMT in my early years. However, things change and family dynamics had me questioning why people do things and psychology became the new direction. I continued with my schooling ultimately to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
