Hello! My name is Alyssa and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling, Student Affairs and Higher Education at Montclair State University in 2015. I have a wide-range of counseling experience in various fields. I started my career working with college students, specifically Division I, II, and III student-athletes from various institutions. I also have experience working in psychiatric rehabilitation and career development services for individuals living with various disabilities, including but not limited to, mental health, physical, medical, substance use, and learning disabilities. Lastly, I enjoy working with individuals in the LGBTQ community regarding identity development, coming out, interpersonal relationships, family dynamics, social supports, and referrals for connection.

I believe in creating genuine and authentic relationships through the counseling process. It is important to build trust, and I am patient when individuals decide to take on this next step. It takes courage and strength to reach out for support, and I commend those individuals for doing so. I utilize a holistic, person-centered model mixed with motivational interviewing to assist individuals in becoming the best versions of themselves. I also like to work from a goal-based approach, and I will ask the difficult questions in order to stay true to an authentic relationship. I am a firm believer that each one of us has the ability to transform our negative experiences and create positive thoughts for a life full of happiness. With that being said, I am more than happy to provide a safe, welcoming, and empathetic experience as we take this journey together.
