About
Hi, my name is Alvin. I have been a licensed Marriage and Family therapist since 1990. In that time, I have worked with teenagers, adults and couples in a variety of therapeutic settings. Trained as a humanistic existential therapist (HE), the work I'm invited to do with clients centers on how clients attempt to bring meaning to their lives- the choices they make and how and why they attempt to engage others in meaningful and lasting relationships. People who might benefit from humanistic existential therapy are those who seek a deeper understanding about why they continue to repeat behaviors with themselves and others that cause them unhappiness, distress and even depression. Yet, they continue to yearn for intimacy and closeness from the important people in their lives. HE therapy explores the deeper meaning of their choices and behaviors while affirming their essential human dignity. HE therapy is not brief or crisis therapy. While there may be triggering events that motivates someone to seek therapy, HE therapy attempts to uncover deeply personal intentions and motivations, often unconscious, that influences one's behavior and life choices.
I deeply respect those who choose to "dither" with the very essence of what it means to be human by entering into the therapeutic process. I'm humbled and honored if you choose me to join your personal journey of deeper self-awareness and self-fulfillment. I will come into your journey not knowing the answers but helping you to uncover the answers hidden in your heart and soul. We will explore what makes you joyful, curious, deeply moved, angry, laugh, sad, hopeful, afraid, content- all that which makes you human.
If you invite me to be your Find A Therapist Counselor, I will be most honored and humbled to accept your invitation.
Peace,
Alvin
