About

Hello! My name is Allise Esquivel. I am A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) for the State of California. I graduated from California Baptist University (2013) and obtained my license in 2017. First, I would like to say congratulations on taking the first step to feeling better. Therapy is scary and can be nerve wrecking. It is important for me to establish a safe and trusting environment for you. My approach is non-judgmental and welcoming of all emotions and feelings. Finding the right therapist is an important part of your therapeutic journey. My main priority is you. Once we establish a partnership, you will never feel like you are going through this alone.

A little about my clinical experience, I have worked in the educational system, addressing academic-performance related concerns. I have worked with parents of children who have disabilities and/or mental health challenges. I also have worked in residential settings, providing treatment to adults and older adults with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges. More recently, I provided mental health counseling to incarcerated adults who are transitioning back into the community. I have been practicing psychotherapy for the past 8 years. Over that time, I have worked with a broad spectrum of disorders and life challenges. To name a few, I have supported Individuals diagnosed with mild depression and adjustment challenges to Individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorders.

My therapeutic approach and orientation are specific and tailored to your needs. I use Client Centered Therapy for the purpose of reflective listening and responding to your needs. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as I believe the first step to feeling better is to be mindful of how we think and how we react. It is important to become self-aware and challenge our irrational self. In addition, I apply Solution Focused Therapy if brief therapy is appropriate. Solution Focused Therapy provides attention to the goal and avoids the use of the term “problem” to maintain eyesight on the goal at hand. Therapy will only be as effective as you allow it to be. I am committed to helping you, supporting you and working with you, until you feel better.
