Hello! My name is Alison Nyman, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. I obtained my Masters in Social Work with a clinical focus at New York University in 2012, and I currently have over 7 years of experience with various types of counseling. I have a passion for helping others through listening and problem solving and becoming a Psychotherapist seemed like a natural career path. I can genuinely say I love the work I do and the experiences I have had along the way. I have had the privilege of working with adults of all ages throughout my career and have worked as a Therapist at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, a support coach and Therapist for young adults with special needs, and currently a private Therapist for individuals, families, and groups facing all types of issues. My areas of specialty include: Adjustment and Life transitions, Autism, Special Needs, Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, Stress Management, Coping Skills, Conflict resolution, and Relationship Issues, as well as Family and Parenting Dynamics. I have clinical experience with Applied Behavioral Analysis, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Addiction Counseling, Motivational Interviewing, Behavior Modification Therapy, Mindfulness Practices, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I would definitely call my overall style "eclectic".

I feel lucky to have an ability to connect with others, listen, and show genuine compassion and understanding. I work with all ages, individuals, families, and couples. I always work from a person-centered perspective, where I emphasize empathy, personal empowerment, and setting goals and treatments based on each individual's needs in a safe and judgment free space. There is no one size fits all when it comes to counseling.
