About

Thank you for sharing and reaching out! My name is Alicia Albertson and I am currently a licensed clinical social worker who has over 15 years of experience in the field. I have experience working with clients who suffer from mental illness and eating disorders throughout the lifespan. Throughout this time, I have developed a passion for helping individuals and families who are affected by eating disorders and to help them overcome these issues with support. Additionally, I have worked with individuals and families to treat a multitude of other mental health disorders, including, depression, anxiety, PTSD, behavioral issues, Autism, mood issues, adjustment disorders, self-harm/suicidal ideation, self-esteem issues, LGBTQ, and various others. I have provided support both in an inpatient and an outpatient setting to help those achieve their life goals and assist them in their therapeutic journey. I have treated individuals and families across the lifespan.

Furthermore, I enjoy supporting my clients through a relaxed yet safe and warm atmosphere to explore and overcome life’s obstacles. I provide support through empathy, kindness, compassion, and provide a down to earth and warm environment. I utilize a client-centered, strengths- based approach and incorporates a multitude of psychotherapy techniques, including, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, creative arts therapy, problem solving psychotherapy, supportive psychotherapy, and harm reduction psychotherapy. I enjoy incorporating mindfulness techniques into therapy to help individuals and families manage their emotions more effectively and to learn to develop healthier and more positive coping skills. I also enjoy incorporating creative arts into the therapeutic journey as a fun way to explore oneself and to assist in the therapeutic journey. I am always a strong advocate for my clients and strive to provide the best support and care possible.

Moreover, I received my Masters in Social Work from Fordham University and am currently a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of CT.
