About
I began my professional education at California State University, Fresno where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I then continued my education at the California State University, Fresno where I obtained a Master’s degree in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. I then went on to attend Oregon State University where I obtained a Doctorate degree in Teacher and Counselor Education. Since then, I have had over 11 years of experience offering mental health and counseling services in diverse settings. I have worked in community mental health agencies offering counseling services to children, adolescents and their families. My style is authentic, attentive, warm, yet playful and humorous. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere where you can feel heard and understood. I enjoy working from an integrated approach that is person-centered, mindfulness-based, and rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In Cognitive Behavioral Therapy we seek to explore and understand one’s thoughts, feelings, and behavior so that changes in one’s behavior and thinking patterns lead to changes in emotions. A mindfulness approach supports in this process because it provides a variety of techniques designed to achieve and maintain a level of consciousness and awareness of the current moment in a way that is accepting and non-judgmental.
