Alexandra Jacobi (Alex) is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Washington D.C. and Maryland. She earned her graduate degree in clinical psychology from Loyola University Maryland, where she also held an assistantship at the campus women's center. She has extensive experience providing counseling services in private practice, as well as in case management and client advocacy. Alex has a diverse clinical background, having served in a variety of mental health settings, including a research facility, outpatient mental health clinic, school counseling department, and at Johns Hopkins Hospital. To complement her expertise in emotional/behavioral health and in feeding her passion for holistic/mind-body wellness, Alex became certified as a barre instructor in 2014. In her personal life, Alex seeks out enriching cultural experiences and adventures. She is ardent about humanistic pursuits and in supporting the greater good of her community. She loves art, nature, history, music and philosophy. Alex specializes in working with clients (mostly in the early to middle adulthood age range) who lack self esteem and a sense of worthiness, and who are feeling anxious and/or depressed. This includes those who may be feeling out-of-balance, inferior, traumatized, overwhelmed, weak, defensive, defeated or simply just stuck. Clients who have a history of unhealthy coping mechanisms, relationship challenges, family discord, poor boundary setting, insecurity, perfectionism, disordered eating behaviors, catastrophic thinking, fearfulness and those who are simply looking to feel better about themselves and the path that they are on in their personal and professional lives tend to benefit greatly from working in therapy with Alex.
