About

My name is Alexandra Kofsky and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe that human beings possess an innate ability to move toward happiness and health, but sometimes adversity, life transitions, and challenging life experiences can get in the way of leading productive and meaningful lives. My approach as a therapist aims to foster a reparative relationship through collaborative, warm, and interactive sessions. My approach My approach as a therapist is eclectic, as I believe that everyone is unique, and what works for one person might not work for another. As a result, I tailor the therapy sessions based on your individual needs. However, I would say that I connect most with therapy that is client-centered, but I also incorporate mindfulness, strength-based, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Together we can discover your personal strengths and build upon them, so you can work towards meeting your goals. My focus Through the use of several traditional and modern modalities, I work with teens, young adults, and adults, struggling with issues like stress, anxiety, depression, communication, parenting, grief, trauma, and life transitions. My communication style My communication style is very open and collaborative. The most important part of therapy is feeling seen and understood by your therapist. As your therapist, I will help you to make connections that will lead to deeper insight and understanding. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to becoming a therapist started with my undergraduate degree in psychology from UC San Diego in 1995. After years of working as a photographer, I decided to go back to school to get my masters in Marriage and Family therapy to become a licensed therapist. I still love taking pictures but I was looking for more fulfilling work which led me to the decision to further my education. My goals for you In our initial session, we will explore the client's goals for therapy and work together to move towards meeting
