About
Hi there, I'm Alejandra! Alejandra Landavazo, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. My approach to therapy is a collaborative one. I see clients as the agents of change in their own lives and take a supportive role in developing and formulating a vision of where clients see themselves. My approach My approach to providing therapy and support to clients is an eclectic one. I recognize that therapy is not a 'one size fits all', and therefore try to utilize various supports from various modalities and theoretical approaches. The most common approaches I am comfortable utilizing range from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Behavioral Therapy, to Polyvagal Therapy & Internal Family Systems therapy. I collaborate with clients in developing and establishing goals and understand that plans might fail but people don't, empathy and compassion are the main themes I bring out in the session, and support clients in learning these skills. My focus I enjoy working with adult women, particularly from Hispanic or Latinx communities that are affected by conditions including generational trauma and first-generation immigration. Some of the conditions I am most comfortable treating include anxiety, depression, trauma-induced conditions, and stressors related to work, relationships, or family. I enjoy empowering clients in developing self-advocacy skills. My communication style My communication style is calm and engaging. I invite clients into an atmosphere of calmness and safety where they feel understood and accepted no matter what is shared in the therapy room. I engage in non-judgmental listening and provide empathic communication during interactions with clients. My goals for you I like to collaborate with clients in determining motives for initiating therapy. I like to support clients in developing and formulating short-term and long-term goals during our work together. I initiate goal discussion at intake and expand during future therapy sessions.
