About
My name is Aisha Rehema-Gist Henderson. I am an Alumnus from Michigan State University (MSU). I have graduated from MSU with two Bachelors
degrees in Family Community Services and Human Biology, and a Masters degree in Social Work. I am a fully licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have six years of experience as a mental health professional. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families from all age ranges (4 to 72 years old) as well as various walks of life. I have worked with clients who may have the following concerns: domestic violence, anxiety, depression, family conflict, parenting concerns, trauma, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, grief and loss, panic attacks, and ADHD.
My therapy style is warm and interactive. The purpose of using this style is to make sure that I am catering to each of my clients' learning style. This way they are able to implement the tools provided and know that we are collaborating with one another. My therapy motto is,"Therapy is what you put into it. It should be a collective effort." I also use a client-centered approach where I allow my clients to guide the session. This way the client can provide their input and know that their voice matters. With each client I serve, I will tailor their treatment plan to meet each of their individual and specific needs.
I have also made it my goal to value my client's time, effort, progress, and willingness to be vulnerable during this therapeutic process, and to feel at ease when communicating their thoughts and feelings. I have met this goal by engaging in empathetic listening with each client; building rapport with them; being direct when needed; and helping them to prioritize their concerns. As your Therapist, I look forward to working with you in your journey of change and growth as well as helping you to become a better version of yourself.
