"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf" - Jon Kabat-Zinn

This is one of my most favorite quotes. To me, it represents the idea that life will throw us little waves, big waves, sometimes, tsunamis. The basic premise of the tides is that they will continue. And many factors will impact their intensity. This is true of life as well. How we deal with or "surf" our specific waves makes a difference.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) with a background in communications. The bulk of the work I do is with people like you, who want stronger relationships, more adaptive coping skills and improved quality of life. I view relationships with a "systems" lens which means people in the context of their surrounding systems, including other family and friendships, work, school, home, social and community environments.

You are probably an expert surfer in some of your domains - home, work, parenting, playing. In some others, well, maybe the waves seem more turbulent. That's OK.

I know there’s hope. I've witnessed plenty of clients make changes and in the process, become stronger, better versions of themselves. Expert surfers.
