About
When hope produces an opportunity for healing, I'm hoping to be there to support you through your journey. My focus is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your foundations, current experiences, and potential. I am currently practicing with children, adolescents, adults, parents, and families. I have worked extensively with people of all ages who have experienced trauma/significant stress, and those who live with anger, substance abuse, anxiety and depression. I also enjoy supporting people who are experiencing life transitions (grief/loss, becoming parents, divorce, college life, job changes, etc.), and those who struggle with perfectionism, shame, and guilt. I completed my undergraduate studies at Southern University A&M College and received my Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Texas @ Arlington. I specialize in supporting youth and families struggling with challenging behaviors as well as in supporting parents who are coming to terms with the needs of their children. My work with young people is relational and experiential, often incorporating play (depending on the youth’s developmental level and preferences). I also specialize in working with adults experiencing anger, substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. I believe that we are all influenced by our families, so I often explore the roots of our earliest and most important relationships and how those impact who we are and how we relate to others. I also have a great deal of work experience with chronically ill populations such as dialysis and cancer patients. Before starting my private practice, I worked as a medical social worker in hospitals and dialysis clinics and learned to be a strong advocate for my clients. My work experience expands across many different populations including the chronically mentally ill adolescents & adults, medically ill, the physically disabled and at-risk elderly, MICA (mentally ill-chemical abuser) patients, and the “worried well”.
