About
As someone who has struggled with challenging issues for many years, I am confident that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Even when that flickering light seems so far away, there is hope. There were days when getting out of bed was a struggle and every day looked grey and grim. I am grateful that I did not give up even when I considered suicide. I told myself that I could not let my children down and I reached out for help. Ironically, I had been planning to eventually become a therapist but chose to start a family first. It took me a total of ten years, as I took a leave of absence and ended an abusive marriage. I eventually found the strength to finish my education and juggle multiple jobs to support myself and my sons. As my psychology professor in college pointed out at my ten-year reunion, life experiences as a mother and wife were invaluable to my eventual practice. As a wounded healer, I could be more compassionate and empathetic. Because of my cultural background growing up in Japan in a multi-cultural and ethnic home, I bring to my practice another dimension in a world that is complex and constantly changing. My formal education was obtained at an international school, which also broadened my horizons. I left Japan when I finished high school and went to a small women’s college in the Santa Monica Mountains. Many years later, I found a unique school in my neighborhood that offered Counseling Psychology; the foundational degree was Spiritual Psychology, and I found the approach very refreshing that we needed to first work on our own issues! I have not been practicing since 2010, first in California and now in Texas since 2016. In addition to individuals, I treat couples and families. Many of my clients come with issues related to anxiety and depression. Some of them have life transition or trauma-related issues. You are not alone, and I would be privileged to support and guide you through your journey.
