Abby Vidal is an LSW and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with an emphasis in Family & Individual Development from Northern Illinois University. She then went on to earn her Master’s in Social Work from Aurora University. Abby is bilingual and speaks fluent Spanish and English. Abby is passionate about working with the Latino/Hispanic community and being a resource for families/individuals in need of services in their native language. Abby enjoys working with children between the ages of 3 and 8 years old. Abby has experience in providing individual therapy and family therapy for children and their families to support their well-being. Abby also has experience in providing crisis intervention and has completed CPI (Crisis Intervention Institute) training that focuses on helping others to de-escalate a situation and implement safety planning and procedures. Abby has experience in working with domestic violence and sexual assault victims in case management, residential, and group therapy settings. She is a previous Certified Domestic Violence Professional and has completed 60-hour Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Training. Abby also has experience in working with perpetrators and has previously been a Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) facilitator. In her approach, Abby focuses on treating each client as a unique individual and aims to prioritize establishing rapport with a client and their family. Abby enjoys curating a safe and non-judgmental space to offer support and treatment for clients. In therapy, Abby utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches such as Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Art Therapy to meet the needs of clients and to treat symptoms. During treatment, Abby hopes to empower and challenge clients in a way that leads to opportunities for them to explore and fulfill their potential.
