Personal Statement

Hi My name is Terri Medwed, I am a LCPC with over 15 years of experience working with adolescents and adults with anxiety and depression. Clients have described me as a warm nurturing person who is easy to talk to and have helped them feel better and achieve results. Maybe you live outside of the normal, everyday lifestyles or relationships common in our society. While some of these alternatives are more widely known and accepted, those who live any of them often feel misunderstood and stigmatized by friends, family, society and/or by their therapists. They can feel that they have no one they can talk to who understands their way of being and have to face any difficulties that relate to these topics alone.

I'm very familiar with the therapy process and know that few people regret seeing a counselor. I've heard from clients that they found it helpful to have an outside, confidential person to talk to. They appreciated a different perspective or getting clarity on an issue that they had been struggling with for a long time.

I have had exposure to a wide variety of alternative lifestyles and relationships, and I will support you in any challenges that you face surrounding your lifestyle or relationship without trying to get you to change who you are.
