Personal Statement
As a strengths based, client centered therapist, my goal is to help you live a more meaningful life. You will find that I am a very interactive therapist who offers coping skills and suggestions to help you through your difficulties. My style is both collaborative and genuine. During our counseling sessions together, in a supportive, nurturing and private setting, we will explore your difficulties and work towards seeing them more clearly. You will develop an understanding of the negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing that more meaningful life.
If you are feeling depressed, anxious, or like you are on an emotional roller coaster, therapy can help. If you are experiencing frustration or anger in your relationship therapy can help. If you are looking for guidance through a difficult time or are ready to move forward with a more positive outlook on life therapy can help.
I also appreciate that as a Social Work based practitioner, it aligns with utilizing a strengths based approach because it enables me to empower individuals to recognize their own potential to live a more meaningful life. This requires me to work with the client to assess their personal situation (economic, societal, home, career and relationships) in order to create an inventory of strengths and weaknesses to build upon. It also forces me to adhere to high standards regarding ethics and confidentiality and encourages me to use a research based approach to treatment.
